On Thursday the Oakland Raiders filed paperwork for the relocation of its team to Las Vegas, according to the National Football League.
Nothing is set in stone yet. The filing is a procedural step, even though Raiders’ owner Mark Davis has repeatedly said he wants to move the franchise to Las Vegas.
According to the NFL, the application will be reviewed in the coming weeks by league staff and the Stadium and Finance Committees. The league also said the relocation requires the 24 of 32 affirmative votes of the NFL clubs.
The vote could come as soon as March at the annual league meeting in Phoenix.
