With Riccardo Tisci leaving Givenchy many are speculating about who will take over the role of a new creative director. Tisci had been with the brand since 2005 and was a favorite among his celebrity clientele. The Italian fashion designer has been seen on the red carpet hand in hand with the likes of Madonna, Nicki Minaj, and Kim Kardashian. Tisci’s final collections for the french house brand were spring couture and menswear. It was shown last month and worn by top models Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid. Tisci is a tough act to follow but there have been whispers that Virgil Abloh, founder of Off White, will be next up for the empty position at Givenchy.

The soil on Riccardo Tisci’s Givenchy grave (it’s more like a shrine, really) is not yet dry, but rumors and speculation surrounding who will replace him are already circling. Today’s rumor? OFF-WHITE designer and Kanye West creative director Virgil Abloh is said to have been in talks with the house about filling the brand’s Tisci-shaped hole after the Italian designer confirmed his exit last week.
The report comes courtesy of WWD, to which Abloh responded by saying: “My trajectory is to update and provide something new in the fashion industry by way of creating a project and using it as a case study on how to update a luxury house.” Now, we don’t know about you, but that’s definitely not a “No” to us.
While Abloh has made no clear indications that he will take over as creative director we definitely wouldn’t be mad if he did. Not only is he known for being Kanye West’s creative director, his high end take on streetwear has many people excited about what else he has in store.
