Susan Traub’s Royal Animals pet apparel collection makes your dog king for a day. There’s no question that we put our dogs on a pedestal – even a throne –pampering our pooches at every opportunity, spoiling them like, well, royalty. So it’s no wonder that NYC entrepreneur Susan Traub named her pet apparel collection, Royal Animals. Seeking a blissful world where all pets and people co-exist in harmony, Susan Traub created her accessibly luxurious pet apparel collection to allow every dog to be treated like a king.
Guy-appeal rules with the licensed dog clothing from New York’s finest, the NYPD, in deep navy, and New York’s bravest, the FDNY in literally fire engine red. In fact, one devoted pet parent who frequents the after-hours dog park on Sutton Place says his dog Tom gives the red FDNY coat two paws up! I love the red for him, it flatters his complexion. Kidding aside, Tom loves looking sharp and his owner is proud to have his dog wearing a coat that’s as functional as it is fashionable. Royal Animals apparel and bedding may cushion the best of our best friends, but soon the collection will be expanding into fun, durable toys and bedding with healthy treats presently in development. Look for Royal Animals at Petco, KOHLS and Hudson Bay Stores in the U.S. and Canada. Sabrina and Darrin, Susan’s two Portuguese Water Dogs, have been her top models for her fashion forward designs for more than a decade. Jet black and sleek, they stroll the sidewalks of Sutton Place, safe in Royal Animals LED-harnesses and leashes, glowing in the dark so all around can see. Susan keeps the mantra of pet safety in mind with all the products she creates for Royal Animals.
“Our pets go with us almost everywhere now”, she says speaking of the lifestyle trend where pets are garnering attention for their sophisticated style that emulates their humans’ élan. “People enjoy walking with a well-dressed dog. Men in particular are bored with strictly utilitarian looks. The trend is towards what’s close to what we’re seeing on the runway during Fashion Week: rich colors, popular patterns, favorites like plaid, and polished details. The look though luxe is always priced reasonably. I would never dress my dogs or have a design in a Royal Animals collection that wasn’t as stylish as something I would wear myself.”
Accessibly priced but remarkably human looks that are as stylish as they are practical, Royal Animals is a must for the pet that naturally wants to stand out from the pack. Sizing for 70-80 lb. dogs – the equivalent to big and tall for people – is coming soon but presently Royal Animals is sized for dogs up to 55 lbs. Size medium is the brand’s biggest seller, but Royal Animals styles look great when sized for smaller dogs too.
Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall fashions do take their cue from our favorite designers which is only natural as Susan herself is a fashionista, looking as great in Nike workout wear as she does in a Temperley of London evening dress; her personal style sense assures that every Royal Animals look is fabulous but never stretches the budget for the family pet. It gives her a great thrill to see a dog in Royal Animals, she confesses, justwalking down the street: I am just so excited and so happy to see a pet whom the owner loves enough to treat like royalty, dressing them beautifully and grooming them well, caring for them with genuine respect and devotion. I have had dogs my whole life and take the responsibility of having them as part of my family very seriously. I want to everyone to learn about their pets, to understand them and to treat them with the greatest consideration. What’s the vision for the future then? A time when every furry friend among us is treated like royalty.
