Abs are Made in the Kitchen

If I had a dollar every time someone asked me “What’s the fastest way to get a six pack”, I would be sailing around the world on my yacht and not sitting here writing this article about how to get a six pack. Here is the truth about abs. You need to increase your cardio and eat clean in order to get those bad boys to come out of hiding. I don’t care how many crunches you are doing or what your current ab routine is. You won’t have a 6 pack until you clean up your diet. Don’t get me wrong, having a core routine is good and will strengthen your core but we are talking about “washboard” abs here.

So what is the best way to get a six pack? Well first, let’s remember we all have different starting points so take this as a basic guide. Take a good look around your kitchen. Get rid of all the fake foods. All of your snack cakes, ice cream, chips, Cheetos etc. Put it like this, if you can’t find it in nature, we ain’t eating it right now.

Step 1: Head to the store and hit the produce department and increase your green vegetable intake.

Step 2: It’s really simple. NO ALCOHOL! That includes beer.

Step 3: Clean carbs only. You have already gotten rid of the sweets by now so remember this brown over white. Meaning brown rice, whole wheat pasta and sweet potatoes instead of its white alternatives white rice, white potatoes, and white pasta. Of course, there are exceptions to this rule but let’s keep it simple for now. Remember carbs are your energy source. So, you still need them. Don’t cut them completely out of your diet. Carbs are about timing. So ask yourself “What am I about to do?” If the answer is sit in a cubicle for the next 8 hours then you won’t be needing a bunch of carbs. If you are about to go lift heavy then have some carbs. Try to have the majority of your carbs before dinner because most of us are winding down after dinner and getting ready for bed.

Step 4: Make sure that you are getting plenty of sleep and allowing your body to rest and change.

Step 5: Give yourself some time. Remember, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson wasn’t built in a day and neither will your abs.

So, get rid of the junk, increase your cardio, get plenty of sleep and give yourself some time.
