Lamorne Morris Plays a Socially Conscious Cartoonist in the Upcoming Hulu Series "WOKE"
New Girl actor Lamorne Morris will star in Hulu's upcoming comedy series, WOKE. Morris portrays Keef Knight, an African American cartoonist whose dream of achieving mainstream success is within reach until a chance encounter with the police derails his ambitions. Now seeing the world through a different lens, Keef must navigate through a new challenging reality while grappling to retain his career. The series is based on the life and work of co-creator and executive producer Keith Knight. Alongside Morris will also feature T. Murph, Blake Anderson, and various guest stars.
WOKE is developed by Marshall Todd and Keith Knight. The co-creators serve as executive producers alongside showrunner Jay Dyer, Maurice “Mo” Marable, Aeysha Carr, Richie Schwartz, John Will, Will Gluck, and Eric Christian Olsen. Kate Schumaecker will serve as an executive producer on the pilot. The comedy is a co-production between ABC Studios and Sony Pictures Television Inc.
All eight episodes of WOKE are slated for release on September 9th and is only available on Hulu.
