Tahj Mowry Discusses His New Film "Welcome Matt" and A "Smart Guy" Reboot
Now entering his 3rd decade of acting, Tahj Mowry is showing no signs of slowing down. His new movie, Welcome Matt hit streaming platforms less than a week ago and the buzz is already out. The movie follows Matthew Hillard played by Mowry, who is dealing with agoraphobia after witnessing the most horrific incident in his life. Filmed over 3 years ago, the time of the movie could not have been better. Released at the end of mental health awareness month after the longest pandemic in recent history, the timing couldn't have been more perfect. If you truly pay attention, the movie deals with so many topics that are worth discussing. We recently had the opportunity to speak with the veteran actor about the new film, a Smart Guy reboot and more.
We talked about the longevity of his career.
The only thing I can say is I'm grateful. I'm thankful for the talent that God has blessed me with, the opportunities that he's blessed me with The fact that I have fans that are like family now that watched me grown and have grown with me. To know that whatever I do, like Welcome Matt, is affecting people in a deep way and that's why I do what I do. It's a great feeling and it's hard to put into words.
We also discussed the possibility of a Smart Guy 2.0.
Yes, during the pandemic conversations about the smart guy reboot, there were of a lot of them. So it is going to be a thing. It will be here at some point. Timing is everything and good things take time. I just ask that the fans are patient. I promise it'll be worth the wait when it does happen. We were able to find an amazing writer and a possible home where it could live."
