Apple’s New AR/VR Headset Is Rumored to Focus on Gaming Applications
New details are surfacing regarding the expected features of Apple's new AR/ VR ahead of Apple’s Worldwide Development Conference in June.
The new AR/VR headset will reportedly be able to run popular iPad applications including, Books, Camera, Contacts, Freeform and Mail. The headset will be able to host “hundreds of thousands” of third-party iPad apps, giving users the ability to experience sports, news and various video content in immersive settings while using the device.
Aside from the aforementioned capabilities of the headset, the device will have an emphasis on gaming in which it has been said Apple will expand its Arcade games to fit the AR/VR headset’s interface. The headset is also expected to include wellness and fitness services.
The headset will reportedly be powered by an external battery which will be able to attach to the headset magnetically. It will also likely include a USB-C connector for data transfer, and users could be able to use the headset as an external monitor for their Mac computers.
The new AR/VR headset is rumored to cost $3,000 when it is released, but official details about the device will be released in June during Apple’s Worldwide Development Conference.
