'Genie' Trailer: Paapa Essiedu Is Granted Unlimited Wishes In New Christmas Movie
Tis the holiday movie season. It's that time of year when we get all of the joy we may have been missing all year.
Coming at the end of this month is Peacock's new Christmas movie, Genie. The trailer was recently released and stars Paapa Essiedu and Melissa McCarthy and depicts a modern take on the story of a genie in a bottle.
The comedy follows Benard (Essiedu) as his life is in shambles from missing his daughter's birthday to his wife leaving him to getting fired. He stumbles across a jewelry box and frees the genie Flora (McCarthy). Flora isn't your Aladdin genie who is limited to offering three wishes. She lets it be known that three wishes are a myth and that she can grant unlimited wishes (Sign Us Up!). Benard begins his journey to get his family back while showing Flora the world since she's been trapped in that box for over 2,000 years.
Essiedu has recently been on our screens, starring in projects like the HBO series I May Destroy You and The Lazarus Project. Genie was written by Richard Curtis and is directed by Sam Boyd.
Check out the trailer below.
Genie premieres on Peacock on November 21.
