Kamala Harris' Atlanta Rally Marks the Largest of This Year's Democratic Campaign
Democratic Presidential candidate Kamala Harris is picking up steam in the South.
According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, Vice President Kamala Harris attracted her largest crowd yet during a rally in Atlanta. There, she highlighted her background as a prosecutor in contrast to Donald Trump's criminal record. She also quoted a hip-hop star and vowed to reclaim Georgia.
Thousands packed a downtown arena “for an only-Atlanta mix of fiery political stump speeches and a high-energy hip-hop performance."
According to the Harris campaign, this was the biggest Democratic rally of the campaign cycle, which drew thousands of supporters from the Atlanta area and beyond as they cheered for rappers Quavo and Megan Thee Stallion, who were seen in a viral photo with Harris that has been shared all over social media.
Harris promised that the “path to the White House runs right through this state,” outlining her past roles as a district attorney in San Francisco as well as a top law enforcement official in the state of California.
”In these roles, I took on perpetrators of all kinds,” she said, nodding to Trump’s felony conviction on New York charges involving hush money payments to a porn star. “So, hear me when I say I know Donald Trump’s type.”
Harris went on to address GOP attacks on her stance on immigration, specifically referring to a campaign ad launched in Georgia on Tuesday. The ad blames her for millions of border crossings and thousands of fentanyl-related deaths that occurred during "Harris' watch."
”Donald Trump doesn’t care about border security. He only cares about himself,” said Harris, who pledged to revive a bipartisan border security bill that Senate Republicans blocked at Trump’s urging.
“When I am president, I will work to actually solve the problem,” she said.
Megan ended up praising the potential “first Black female president” during her set at Georgia State University’s Convocation Center. And Quavo is all for Harris’ gun control policy, especially since the shooting death of his friend and Migos bandmate, Takeoff.
As the event progressed, Harris quoted a Quavo lyric, bashing Trump, saying “he does not walk it like he talks it.”
