2025 Met Gala Makes History with All-Black Male Co-Chairs Celebrating Tailoring and Style

Black men will definitely be represented at next year's Met Gala.

Met Gala

The Metropolitan Museum of Art revealed that Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams and Anna Wintour will co-chair the 2025 Met Gala, with honorary chair LeBron James joining the illustrious lineup.

This will be the first time that all of the co-chairs are Black men.

The theme of the 2025 gala, Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, will showcase the rich legacy of Black men's fashion and dandyism, drawing inspiration from Monica L. Miller’s seminal 2009 book, Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity. The exhibit will feature a wide array of garments, paintings, and photographs that highlight the enduring elegance and creativity of Black men's style from the 18th century to the present day.

The co-chairs reflect the theme perfectly. Domingo, known for his commanding red carpet looks, will be making his Met Gala co-chair debut after becoming a standout figure in Hollywood for his bold fashion statements.

Hamilton, who has revolutionized style in the world of Formula 1, is a regular at the Met Gala, known for his daring fashion choices.

A$AP Rocky’s eclectic and influential style has made him a global trendsetter, while Williams, a former Met Gala co-chair and the current creative director of Louis Vuitton Men’s, continues to shape the intersection of music and fashion.

James, attending his first Met Gala, brings his own distinct blend of athleticism and fashion influence, solidifying the growing connection between sports and high fashion.

With Wintour continuing her long-standing role as co-chair since 1995, the 2025 Met Gala will be a historic celebration of Black style, culture and creativity.

The exhibit, Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, will open to the public on May 6, 2025, and will run until October 26, 2025, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Mark their calendars for the Met Gala on May 5, 2025, as the dress code and the displays of fashion will be unveiled.
