Broadway Star Zelig Williams Missing: Community Rallies for His Safe Return

Broadway actor Zelig Williams has been reported missing since October 3, leaving his family, friends and colleagues desperate for answers. The 28-year-old has performed in hit shows like Hamilton and MJ The Musical.

Williams, who had been staying with his mother in Columbia, South Carolina, since the summer, was last seen leaving his home around 9:50 AM on October 3. His aunt, Christine McLaughlin Barber, told local TV station WACH that everything seemed normal when he left. However, about 10 minutes later, one of Williams' friends in New York received an SOS alert from his phone, indicating a possible car crash.

Initially, the family feared Williams had been in an accident. But authorities have since ruled out this possibility. Williams' car was found in the early morning of October 5, parked in a lot near the Palmetto Trail close to Wateree, South Carolina, with no signs of a crash.

The missing persons flyer, shared by the organization Black and Missing, states that Williams was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, black shorts and brown slides. It also mentions that his vehicle was found in the Congaree National Park area.

As the search continues, the Broadway community has mobilized to spread awareness. Hugh Jackman, who worked with Williams on the 2019 concert tour The Man. The Music. The Show, is among the high-profile figures urging anyone with information to come forward.

Williams' family, including his mother Kathy Williams and cousin Mieoki Corbett Jacobs, are holding onto hope for his safe return. They've emphasized that Williams had been actively engaged in his community, hosting specialized dance workshops in Columbia.

The Richland County Sheriff's Office is leading the investigation and asks anyone with information about Williams' whereabouts to contact them immediately.
