Ford F-150 Raptor R vs. Ford Bronco Raptor: A Side-by-Side Comparison

Ford has several models that you should know about if you are looking for a new vehicle this year. This dependable brand is an American icon. At the moment, the F-150 Raptor R and the Bronco Raptor are two of the hottest sellers you might target.

You can find both at Georgia dealerships, but first, it is helpful to do a side-by-side comparison to try and figure out which one will be the best vehicle for your needs.

Let’s start with a breakdown of the Ford Bronco Raptor. The first thing to keep in mind about this relative newcomer to the Ford line is that you can take off the windows and doors if you like. If you wanted to do that with the Ford F-150 Raptor R, you would need a Sawzal.

This means that if you want open-air motoring, this model will be the choice for you. Apart from that, it comes with the same brakes as the Raptor R. Their suspension travel is the same as well, as each one gets 14 inches in the rear and 13 up front.

The powertrain and dimensions of the Bronco Raptor are different from its counterpart, though. The Bronco is significantly shorter than the Raptor R, so if you only have so much room in your garage, you might want to go with the Bronco for that reason. It takes up 41.6 inches of room less than the Raptor R.

Also, it has a shorter wheelbase, to the tune of 28.9 inches. This adds up to the Bronco Raptor potentially being the better choice if you are going to be driving it over uneven, rocky terrain.

The Raptor R does not have the same relatively limited confines as the smaller Bronco Raptor model. This makes sense when you consider that the Bronco Raptor is based more on Ford’s standard midsize truck platform. The Raptor R, by contrast, can be considered more of a full-size crew-cab pickup.

You’re getting more legroom in the backseat with the Raptor R, as well as a secure, hard-top, weather-tight cargo area. That is different from the Bronco Raptor, which gives you more of an open bed concept that’s not going to hold up as well when you’re facing violent weather.

Which is for You?

It would be inaccurate to say one is better than the other since they share so many similarities. What makes the most sense to ask yourself if you’re trying to choose between them is what you plan on doing with yours.

If you need dry cargo storage but less space inside, then it’s got to be the Bronco. If you plan on hauling more friends or coworkers around and you’re going to throw a bunch of muddy gear into the bed, you’re better off going with the Raptor R.

However, either one of these beauties is a steal at the price points where you should be able to find them.
