Marvel Drops Teaser Featuring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as 'Wonder Man'
We don't know what happened with Marvel Studies last night, but we love it.
A trailer dropped teasing Marvel's full slate of content being released on Disney+ including, Eyes of Wakanda, Ironheart and Daredevil: Born Again.
Among the titles released was Wonder Man, starring Emmy-winning actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. It seems Abdul-Mateen has switched sides, as he previously portrayed David Kane, the Black Manta, in DC's Aquaman.
In Wonder Man, Abdul-Mateen plays Simon Williams, a Marvel Comics character who, in this adaptation, is portrayed as an actor auditioning to become Wonder Man, adding a satirical, behind-the-scenes look at fame and the entertainment industry.
The teaser hints at comedic yet complex interactions between Simon and Trevor Slattery, the eccentric actor played by Ben Kingsley, who we last saw in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
The 10-episode series also stars Demetrius Grosse as Simon’s brother, Eric Williams, known as the Grim Reaper in Marvel Comics, hinting that a family dynamic with its own complexities will play a part in the show’s plot.
Wonder Man is slated to premiere in December 2025 as part of Marvel’s Phase 6.
