[Teaser] Jamie Foxx's 'What Had Happened Was...' Hits Netflix in December
Earlier last month, Jamie Foxx returned to the comedy stage in Atlanta for a one-man show. That show will now premiere on Netflix on December 10.
Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was... will feature Foxx on stage, sharing his journey through a serious health scare, filled with humor, heart and inspiration.
The teaser, released Friday, captures Foxx's spirit: "I said, 'If I can stay funny, I could stay alive.'" These words hold weight given the actor's recent medical challenges, during which he experienced a health crisis that left him temporarily unable to walk.
2023 proved to be a year of both trials and triumphs for Foxx. After his hospitalization for an undisclosed "medical event," the entertainment industry and fans worldwide rallied behind him. His recovery journey culminated in one of the most touching moments of his life – walking his daughter Corinne down the aisle at her wedding, a milestone that seemed uncertain during his health struggles.
The comedy special marks another chapter in Foxx's flourishing relationship with Netflix. The streaming giant has become a creative home for the multi-talented artist, hosting his family sitcom Dad Stop Embarrassing Me! and featuring him in a string of successful films including They Cloned Tyrone, Day Shift, and Project Power.
"I'm back," Foxx declares in the teaser, a simple yet powerful statement.
