Anthony Anderson, J.R. Smith and More Tee Off at Complex’s Star-Studded Celebrity Golf Pro-Am Tournament
On November 14, Complex stepped into the golf world with its inaugural Celebrity Golf Pro-Am Tournament.
Held in collaboration with Michelob ULTRA and powered by Lexus, the tournament was a star-studded event that celebrated golf's growing cultural crossover.
Among the celebrity participants were actor Anthony Anderson and NBA champion J.R. Smith, who both brought their A-game to the green. Anderson kept spirits high, joking with fellow players while demonstrating his steady swing. Smith, a true golfer who returned to college to compete in NCAA golf tournaments, showcased his skills.
Joining Anderson and Smith were a roster of other celebs, including rappers ScHoolboy Q and Freddie Gibbs, actor Adrian Holmes, radio personality Angie Martinez, and athletes like Joe Haden. The event also featured professional golfers such as Kurt Kitayama, Paris Hilinski, and Isaiah Salinda, creating an atmosphere of camaraderie and competition.
The day wasn’t just about golf—it was a celebration of culture. Michelob ULTRA debuted an exclusive capsule collection in collaboration with the golf-inspired lifestyle brand, Malbon. Lexus teased its own collection with Malbon, set to launch in 2025, and unveiled the 2024 Lexus GX 550 Malbon Edition, a luxury vehicle tailored for golf enthusiasts.
The tournament ended with professional skateboarder Sean Malto, NBA athlete Mike Redd, Jason Krech, and Jack Murphy clinching victory, taking home the coveted Michelob ULTRA Pro-Am Cup.
