Boyz II Men Set to Tell Their Story In a Biopic and Documentary
R&B royalty is about to take its fans down the end of the road.
Boyz II Men, the legendary R&B group celebrated for their timeless harmonies and heartfelt lyrics, will take audiences through their legendary career with a new feature film biopic and documentary.
“We’ve been waiting to find the right partners who understand our story and are willing to tell it all,” said Nathan Morris, one of the group’s founding members. “Denis and Jeff at Compelling Pictures understood us from day one.”
The announcement follows a sold-out, three-night performance at the Hollywood Bowl, marking the group’s first headlining appearance at the historic venue since opening there early in their career.
Boyz II Men debuted in 1991 with Cooleyhighharmony, an album that set the tone for their career. The boy group's success has been marked by milestones that cement their status as the best-selling R&B group of all time, with more than 60 million albums sold worldwide.
The group’s accolades include:
No. 1 Hits on the Billboard Hot 100: Five chart-topping singles, including End of the Road, I’ll Make Love to You, On Bended Knee, One Sweet Day (with Mariah Carey), and 4 Seasons of Loneliness.
Longest-running No. 1 on the Charts: They twice held the record for the longest-running No. 1 single with End of the Road (13 weeks) and I’ll Make Love to You (14 weeks). One Sweet Day set an unmatched record of 16 weeks at No. 1, holding the title for 23 years.
Grammy Awards: Four wins, including Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals for End of the Road and I’ll Make Love to You.
Global Sales: Over 60 million albums sold, making them one of the best-selling R&B groups in history.
Billboard Chart Dominance: Boyz II Men spent a record 50 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 across multiple singles, a feat unmatched by any group or duo until recently.
“We’re excited to show the brotherhood and camaraderie, as well as the challenges, humor, and heartbreak that have accompanied the success that Nate, Shawn, Wanya, and Mike have worked so hard to achieve,” said producers Denis O’Sullivan and Jeff Kalligheri of Compelling Pictures, the production company partnering with Boyz II Men and Primary Wave to develop the biopic.
We're excited for Motownphilly's nostalgia and End of the Road's emotion to remind us why Boyz II Men is more than a group—they are a cultural institution.
