Maryland Now Has a Black Senator, Governor, Mayor, and Two Members of the House of Representatives
New York Times Bestselling author Charles Blow said that the only way Black people can help fix this country is by gaining more Black power, which must be connected to the state.
"I think fixing the country is having more Black power," Blow said in a past interview with The Quintessential Gentleman. "I don't see a way for Black people to fix the country for Black people without Black people having more Black power. And I believe that state power is incredibly important in that conversation."
Maryland is moving in the right direction with the influence Black people hold in the state. With Angela Alsobrooks winning the Senate race, the state now has a Black senator, a Black governor, a Black mayor, and two Black members of the House of Representatives.
