Rappers Have a New Grind: Jadakiss, Ghostface Killah, and Pusha T Enter the Coffee Industry
There must be something in the coffee...beans.
There is a new wave of business ventures hitting the Hip-hop community. Normally, when we hear of rappers' new business endeavors, it's a liquor brand, a collaboration on a fashion line, or, more recently, investing in a tech company. But now, some of our favorite rappers are getting into the coffee business.
The global coffee market is a lucrative and booming industry. It is estimated to generate around $200 billion annually. Globally, over 2.25 billion cups of coffee are consumed every day. According to Cafely, American coffee drinkers average three cups of coffee per day.
Rappers like Jadakiss, Ghostface Killah, and Pusha T have traded grinding in the music industry for grinding coffee beans, venturing into the world of specialty coffee.
Jadakiss: Kiss Café
Jadakiss has always been about legacy—whether in music or business. His coffee brand, Kiss Café, is a family affair, founded alongside his father, Bob Phillips, and his son, Jaewon.
Kiss Café is more than a coffee brand; it’s a celebration of family, tradition, and legacy. The brand represents three generations of coffee passion and expertise. Phillips, who began working in the coffee industry in 1977, passed down his love for the craft to his family, creating a bond steeped in the art and complexity of coffee.
Jadakiss, known for his authenticity in music, carries this same honesty into Kiss Café, crafting premium blends that honor the Phillips family’s heritage. From grind to brew, Kiss Café offers coffee lovers a taste of legacy, love, and quality in every cup.
Kiss Café offers two distinct flavors of its signature Beijo coffee, tailored to fit your morning vibe. For those chasing dreams on the go, the fresh Beijo ground coffee provides a convenient yet premium brew. If you savor the ritual of grinding your own beans, the Beijo whole beans deliver a rich, aromatic experience that starts your day with warmth and love.
Ghostface Killah: Killah Koffee
Wu-Tang Clan member Ghostface Killah has expanded his creative genius into the world of coffee with his brand, Killah Koffee.
Killah Koffee is crafted with 100% Arabica beans, offering a premium experience that matches the rapper’s flamboyant style. The brand features eight blends—Shaolin Cannoli, Chocolate Chip Mint, Marble Cake, Supreme Dark Roast, Marvelous Medium Roast, Whole Bean Marble Cake, Whole Bean Dark Roast, and Vanilla Milkshake—each providing a unique twist on traditional coffee flavors.
After a successful run online, Ghostface opened a brick-and-mortar location in West Brighton, Staten Island, making Killah Koffee one of the few Black-owned coffee businesses in the area and the only one owned by a hip-hop artist.
The coffee shop serves up high-quality brews and also offers a selection of exclusive merchandise, adding to its charm as a must-visit local spot.
Pusha T: Grindin
Pusha T has officially entered the coffee business with the launch of his premium coffee brand, Grindin. The new venture made its debut at an exclusive pop-up event in Los Angeles last week.
Named after the iconic track Grindin by Clipse, the coffee blend is designed specifically for espresso-based drinks like cortados and hortados.
To kick off the release, Pusha T collaborated with Café Tropical as a distributor. According to Hypebeast, the café's original owners were linked to cocaine smuggling activities in the 1970s, which further enhances the authenticity of his brand's gritty persona.
In an Instagram post, Pusha shared that all of his ventures are driven by his passion, stating, “All my dreams & ideas start from my passions," Pusha shared. "Luckily I have been able to find partnerships & platforms to help me bring my visions to life. This is just a piece of me & how I start my day."
Fans had the opportunity to sample Grindin at the Camp Flog Gnaw music festival, where Pusha also debuted exclusive merchandise. For those outside of Los Angeles, Grindin will be available nationwide in early 2025.
