Snoop Dogg on Why He Stays Out of Politics: 'I Believe in Bringing Us Together'

You’ll see Snoop Dogg representing America on the global stage, but you won’t see him endorsing political candidates.

The icon recently shared his perspective on why he steers clear of politics. In a candid interview, the legendary rapper explained his commitment to fostering unity rather than engaging in partisan divides.

"I'm not looking for separation, I'm not looking for division; I'm looking for people to come together," Snoop said. "When all of the hoopla was going on with the voting, notice I was nowhere to be seen? I wanted it to be like that. Because I don't believe in separating people, I believe in bringing us together."

Snoop expressed his hesitation to align with any political party, emphasizing that he neither identifies with the Republican nor the Democratic Party. Instead, he dubbed himself a member of the "motherf***ing gangster party" — a “love party” focused on harmony and unity. He's not interested in the after-effects of political endorsements. "If you're picking and choosing, now I've got to make people mad at me because I chose this or that," he said.

Though Snoop Dogg avoids politics, he isn’t shy about proudly representing America in ways that unite people across political and cultural lines. He has embraced his role in the 2024 Paris Olympics as more than just a commentator — he’s become a full-fledged Team USA cheerleader. The 53-year-old served as one of the final torchbearers of the Olympic flame in the streets of Saint-Denis, leading to the Stade de France.

The rapper's pride in America during the Olympics underscored his belief in the power of unity through shared experiences. It’s not about politics for Snoop. It's about representing the culture and the people.
