First Look at Angela Bassett as President in Netflix's New Series 'Zero Day'

Netflix has released the first glimpse of its highly anticipated political thriller, Zero Day, which debuts in February.

The series brings together a powerhouse cast led by Angela Bassett, who stars as the current U.S. President, and Robert De Niro, portraying former President George Mullen.

Zero Day explores a fictional yet eerily plausible scenario: a massive cyberattack throws the United States into disarray. In response, Bassett’s character summons Mullen to head the newly established Zero Day Commission. Tasked with uncovering those responsible for the catastrophic attack, Mullen finds himself navigating a labyrinth of power struggles and moral dilemmas.

The series delves deep into themes of disinformation, technological manipulation, and the collision of politics, finance, and national security.

Netflix teases:

“As disinformation runs rampant and the personal ambition of power brokers in technology, Wall Street, and government collide, Mullen’s unwavering search for the truth forces him to confront his own dark secrets while risking all he holds dear.”

The series is the brainchild of co-creators Eric Newman, Noah Oppenheim, and Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Michael S. Schmidt. Emmy-winning director Lesli Linka Glatter (Homeland) helms all episodes. De Niro is also an executive producer, marking his first major role in a television series.

The series also features Lizzy Caplan, Jesse Plemons, Joan Allen, Connie Britton, and Matthew Modine, Bill Camp, Dan Stevens, Gaby Hoffmann, Clark Gregg, and McKinley Belcher III.

Fans can stream all episodes of Zero Day on Netflix starting February 20, 2025.
