J. Cole Delivers His 5th Album, “KOD”

On this weed holiday, as promised, J. Cole delivers his fifth solo album KOD. This album is a slight departure from his last album 4 Your Eyez Only, in that the activism is still there, but features a wiser Cole, living as someone who doesn’t really want the spotlight.

Standout tracks include the title track, where he squares off against today’s rap pundits. Photograph, which touches on dating in the age of digital social media. The Cut Off, a track that talks about opportunistic friends. Once An Addicts is a song that speaks on the pervasive drug culture that exists in today’s music. Finally, the track FRIENDS touches on how success can bring on a sense of guilt.
