Cavs Visit The White House

The defending champion Cleveland Cavaliers finally had a chance to visit the White House after an improbable 3-1 finals comeback.

As the players were walking through the White House and its outside premises, Finals MVP LeBron James had a chance voice what it means to be honored in the White House, a time where president Barack Obama’s presidency is coming to a close, sadly.

“It’s just a great day for us to be in the White House,” James said to NBA.com. “With this guy (Kyrie Irving) right here with the trophy and Michelle (Michelle Obama), it means so much. It’s a very humbling experience. For me growing up in the inner city you never believed you could be a part of the White House. And for me to be here celebrating a great moment in our franchise history, I’m at a loss of words.”

When it was time for the president to commemorate the team for its championship victory, even the commander and chief had to greet one J.R. Smith with a little humor.

“I also before I go any further, want to give a special thanks to J.R. Smith’s shirt for showing up; I wasn’t sure if it was going to make an appearance today,” Obama said as he chuckled. “I’m glad you came. You are a very nice shirt.”

This reference, of course, is when Smith partied with no shirt all over the Cleveland streets after the Cavs made a 3-1 finals comeback.  Still, even good ole J.R. had to show the president some respect.
