HaroWaight S/S ’17: COCAINE
At Harold Waight‘s spring/summer 2017 fashion show on Sunday, the New York City designer sent models down the runway in edgy, yet “athleisurely chic” designs. The collection was packed with color blacked looks in grey, black, and white.
The shows’ darkness and melancholy was combined with an addictive optimism that prioritized the happiness over the sadness. Hence the name, COCAINE. The melancholic optimism of the collection was felt with each look that came down the runway. Looks that embodied power, strength, and fashion forwardness.
The show was opened by performing artist Rovine Sena. While models from all over the U.S. and other countries graced the runway. Models such as Ozichi Ugwumadu and Bryce Levar from Atlanta, Georgia. There were also some outstanding pieces like the all white mesh top with shirts worn by albino model Elijah and the two piece black set worn by Vitiligo model Terrence Ingram. Ruth Joanis was the first model to walk out while Sunkarie Kamara wrapped up the show. The collection is set out for release on November 6th, two days before New York City’s presidential elections.
