Heat Suspend Dion Waiters for Third Time
It’s been a great year so far for the second-seeded Miami Heat. But it’s been a weird year for their eighth-year guard Dion Waiters.
According to Yahoo Sports NBA Insider Chris Haynes, the Miami Heat have suspended Waiters for the third time this season for “failure to adhere to team policies, violation of team rules and continued insubordination.”
Waiters received a 10-game suspension in November for conduct detrimental to the team. The suspension followed an incident on the team flight in which Waiters experienced a “panic attack” following consuming a THC-infused edible.
The Heat in a statement said the suspension will begin immediately, and he will be eligible to return after the Utah Jazz game on Dec. 23.
It’s a shame that Waiters is seemingly wasting his time with the Heat. The guy can score when he is mentally in the game. Waiters has unlimited range and can break players down off the dribble.
This type of skill set would have done wonders with Jimmy Butler, Tyler Herro, Kendrick Nunn, Justise Winslow and Goran Dragic.
The Heat (18-6) will take on the best in the West tonight versus the Los Angeles Lakers (22-3) in Miami, 7 pm Eastern, 6 pm Central.
