Jarrett Demetre Brings Risky Classy Sex Appeal to the Camera Lens
We focus so much attention on the models that are being captured in our images but what about the person who is behind the lens! Check out our interview with amazing PHotographer Jarrett Demetre who is based in Atlanta, Georgia. He speaks with us about his passion for photography, his inspiration and what we can look forward from him in the future.
When did you first develop a passion for shooting behind a lens?
I truly developed and realized the photography world was exactly where I wanted to be, in the beginning of 2015. It happened when I first really started shadowing my mentor and friend Marcus Ezell as we were doing a photo shoot at Arabian mountain. This will probably have even more people googling Arabian mountain now to try and shoot, but that was the true defining moment when I really knew.
How do you describe your photography?
My PHotography is who I am 100%. Both what I show to people as an individual and what I don’t. Sexy, risky, different. I like to buck the system a little. Be either different or a little more daring. Heavily rooted in Fashion, with a touch of artistic expression, and mixture of modern urban styles with a classic persona. I aim to capture realism, the perfection of what the human eye actually sees.
What inspires your photos?
People. Sometimes just everyday beautiful women who don’t even truly aspire to model but they have a defining look and presence are the biggest influences. Music a lot of times and movies. Or of course other photographers usually international photographers.
Who is your favorite photographer and why?
I have several favorite PHotographers I look to and refer to for inspiration and direction, but top two right now are Helmut Newton and Giampaolo Sgura. Newtown’s PHotos are so classic and risky. They are provocative and elegant all in one. Especially for his era. Sgura’s work to me is my photographic eye of perfection. Many people like and lean towards different things but his balance of retouching, concepts and work are perfect to me.
If you could shoot any person dead or alive who would it be and why?
There are so many current trending super models I look to work with in the near Future. But 2 people I would love to work with out of all aren’t even true models really. Robyn Fenty because her mixture of Edgy Grace photographs so well with any concept you give her, along with Maryln Monroe cause she was so naturally photogenic.
What can we look forward to from Jarrett Demetre?
From me you can look forward to seeing me work with more celebrity names, creating with a few current top models, and agency work as always. Plus my new PHotography Book series I am working on titled “Volumn”.
