Kevin Savage…A Man On The Rise
The Quintessential Gentleman will always let you know all the gentlemen you need to keep on your radar. Kevin Savage is an actor/model who everyone should keep a close eye on. He is making his way through the industry and we were able to sit down with him. Check out our interview below.
QG: When was the first time you realized that you wanted to be an actor?
Kevin Savage: I realized I wanted to be an actor after I did a play at a church I attended over 10 years ago. I got cast for the lead role and the response I got from it was amazing. That’s when I fell in love with the art.
QG: What actor or actors influence you the most?
KS: Jamie Foxx is one of my favorite actors, because he’s so well-versed and gifted. His performance in Ray was unbelievable and I love the fact that he’s more than just an actor. It’s a blessing to be able to utilize all of your gifts, and Jamie has shown us exactly what that looks like.
QG: Who would you love to be cast next to?
KS: I would love to be cast with him and also Cicely Tyson. She is the archetype of a black actor’s success. She made it as an African American actress, even at a time where there weren’t many roles for blacks and being a black woman made it twice as hard. To share a set with her would be a dream come true.
QG: If you could have been cast in any past film which one would it be?
KS: I’ve always wanted to do an action film, so to be cast for either Fast and Furious, Transformers or a Marvel film would be outstanding. I stay in shape so playing a superhero or a villain would be extremely fun for me.
QG: How was it working on the set of “The Game”?
KS: When I moved to Atlanta, “The Game” was the first project I worked on. I got cast to play Jay Ellis, (Blue’s) stand-in. It was great because it was a learning experience and it would prep me for future projects. I was able to learn set etiquette and how to interact with the cast and crew which is crucial when working in this industry. I would memorize my lines, so whenever stand-in’s would rehearse, I was ready. The director and producer, Kenny Smith, noticed that and gave me a few lines with Wendy Raquel and Jay. I remember being on set that day feeling so accomplished because I knew I had graduated from a stand-in to an actual character. That was the beginning of what would be a lot more projects to come.
QG: You recently did some work with BET? Can you give us some insight on the future project?
KS: I booked a role in the highly anticipated new BET series “The Quad,” staring Anika Noni Rose, Sean Blakemore, E. Roger Mitchell, Jasman Guy and more. I play Terrence Hawkins, a star quarterback. We start filming again in October and it airs in January of 2017. Extremely excited about that!!
QG: How did you get into Modeling?
KS: Modeling is something I’ve always done because it was fun. I’ve done New York Fashion Week, New Jersey Fashion Week and working on Atlanta Fashion Week next year. I recently signed with click modeling agency modeling agency, and so far I’ve done one commercial and a print job. It’s always exciting getting in front of the camera and I have a few magazines that I plan on being featured in and QG is one of them.
QG: What is your favorite fashion designer?
KS: I love Express and Armani Exchange because their clothes fit my body perfectly, and Ozwald Boateng is one of my favorite designers.
QG: What does success look like to you?
KS: To me, success is living your dreams and having the Financial Freedom to do so.
QG: What does it mean to be a Quintessential Gentleman?
KS: The quintessential man is one who is respected for his character and integrity. He’s also a man who fights for what he wants and does not give up or back down until he gets it, even if he has to take it, because success is hardly ever given, it’s earned. I am the quintessential man!
QG: What can we look forward to from you?
KS: I have worked hard to get where I am and I will not stop, even after I get to where I want to be. It’s not good enough just to get it. The goal is to keep what you’ve earned. I was cast in a film this year called “Chasing Waterfalls” with Jasmine Guy and Drew Sidora, which you can catch on TvOne. Next year, you can expect to see me on “House of Cards,” acting beside Kevin Spacey. I will be working on “The Quad,” along with a host of other television shows and films. I’m just getting warmed up and Atlanta is my platform to soar!
