Marc Gasol, Ready for Any and All Competition
Despite the way the power structure has shifted in the Western Conference, Memphis Grizzlies Center, Marc Gasol, is ready for any competition.
At Memphis Grizzlies Media Day, last week, Gasol said he is prepared for whatever foe that may cross his path, or in this case, the court.
“We have to worry about ourselves; we have to be the best team that we can be,’ Gasol said. “If we do that I feel confident about our chances against anybody. And I always believe that. If we are 100 percent committed to this team and to what we are supposed to do as a team, I like our chances against anybody. There is no one team that I worry about. The only team I will worr y about is ourselves. If we can get ourselves to play the way that we can play in order to win, the rest, we will worry about when it comes.”
Though players are supposed to think like this, it’s hard pressed to think the Grizzlies have a chance against some of the powerhouses in the West, including Golden State, San Antonio and even the Clippers.
Gasol underwent surgery last February for a non-displaced Type II fracture of the navicular bone in his right foot, cutting his season mighty short.
As one of the pillars of the Grizzlies, he averages a career 14.3 points, 7.8 rebounds and 3.1 assists.
