Netflix Picks Up Michael B. Jordan’s Superhero Series “Raising Dion”
Netflix has agreed to create the 10-episode drama, Raising Dion, based on the short film created by Dennis Liu.
Raising Dion follows a single mother who realizes that her son has superpowers that are constantly changing. After her husbands (Michael B. Jordan) dies, Nicole Reese is forced to raise her son alone. The drama will show the struggles of being a single mother which is even harder when you have a child that has abilities. Nicole must keep her son’s powers a secret as well as protect him from people who are trying to exploit him.
Michael B. Jordan will executive produce the series and Dennis Liu will direct the pilot episode. The Macro team, Charles D. King, Poppy Hanks and Kim Roth will also serve as executive producers.
Via The Hollywood Reporter:
“I started this project many years ago because I wanted to see more diverse representation on film and television and I’m excited to partner with Netflix, who I know shares that commitment,” Liu said. “More than ever, we need more stories told from different points of view, and my hope with Raising Dion is to create a cinematic experience for all families that will lift your spirits and make you laugh and cry.”
There isn’t a release date for the series but the price increase for Netflix is really starting to not look that bad!
