'Stranger Things' Star Caleb McLaughlin's Philanthropy Helped Ink Deal With Dior
The current trend of Gen Z stars inking Dior Beauty ambassadorship has been prevalent. And the latest is Caleb McLaughlin.
He is the label’s newest face, according to Hypebeast.com. The Stranger Things actor, according to WWD, will start his partnership supporting the French House’s La Collection Privee fragrance line.
McLaughlin will “partner with the brand, celebrating the heritage of Dior, while supporting Dior Beauty in fragrance category,” according to a statement from Dior. The young actor’s ambassadorship is the latest in Dior’s shift to target young consumers. Dior also named South Korean pop star Haerin, a member of NewJeans, as a new global ambassador for jewelry, fashion and beauty, among several others.
Jenna Ortega, Thuso Mbedu, Fai Khadra, Liu Yuxin, Orelsan and Stranger Things actors Maya Hawke and Joseph Quinn will be ambassadors for La Collection Privee’s hero, Gris Dior.
According to Dior, McLaughlin’s selection is directly linked to his commitment to philanthropy. “[McLaughlin] developed his own nonprofit foundation, Toa Foundation Inc. (meaning ‘evolve’ in Swahili) that supports personal and mental development globally via performing arts and financial literacy. He is also an active member of the Jr. NBA Leadership Council, the official youth basketball participation program of the NBA, which works to support and improve the youth basketball experience for young players across the country.”
As for his latest showbiz gig, it will be quite some time until McLaughlin appears again in his role as Lucas in Stranger Things since the show will be delayed due to the ongoing Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike. But outside of the Duffer Brother’s show, McLaughlin will star in Peacock’s movie about superstar LeBron James’ high school baseball career, Shooting Stars.
According to imdb.com, McLaughlin worked on several television shows, including ABC Forever, CBS Unforgettable, NBC Law & Order SVU, HBO Miniseries Show Me a Hero, ABC 20/20 What Would You Do?, and HBO’s Last Week Tonight with John Liver and CBS Blue Bloods, which starts Tom Selleck.
He can also be seen starring as Jay-Jay on NBC’s Shades of Blue. He also starred in the BET biopic mini-series on the New Edition Story as Ricky Bell.
