  • Will.i.am Backs Kamala Harris For President With New Anthem, 'Yes She Can'

In the final stretch before Election Day, Black Eyed Peas co-founder Will.i.am has endorsed Kamala Harris with his powerful new song, Yes She Can . Released last night, just 48 hours before the majority of voters head to the polls, the track is both a rallying cry and a message of hope aimed at inspiring Americans to support Harris as she aims to make history. The 1-minute and 43-second acoustic song, shared on Will.i.am’s YouTube channel , pulls no punches in expressing his concerns about the current state of American politics. In the opening verse, he calls out former President Donald Trump: “entertained by the predator.” The song makes it clear that for Will.i.am, supporting Kamala Harris is about more than politics; it’s about ushering in a new era of leadership that reflects progress and inclusion. “So register and vote for your life / Do it for your daughters and your sons and your wife,” Will.i.am sings. “If you a woman then vote for your rights / And don’t let them take away your rights / We could be better than we ever been / We about to have a woman president.” In the video’s caption, Will.i.am reiterated his commitment to the cause. “This is a heartfelt anthem celebrating Kamala Harris and the power of everyday people. With Election Day just around the corner, I wanted to score the movement, and create a call to action, and a promise of what we can achieve together,” he wrote. He also emphasized that the song isn’t just about Harris’ historic candidacy but about celebrating the resilience and strength of women everywhere. “Join me as we shine a spotlight not only on the journey of Kamala Harris and the change that’s coming but also on the everyday heroes and #PowerfulWoman who breathe life into the world,” he added. Yes She Can is a reimagining of Will.i.am’s 2008 hit Yes We Can , which was created to support then-candidate Barack Obama ’s presidential campaign. The original song, which featured quotes from Obama’s campaign speeches over a melodic acoustic guitar, became a viral sensation. Listen to the song below.

  • VP Kamala Harris Addresses The Importance Of Black Male Educators During Philly Barbershop Visit

As part of her campaign outreach, Vice President Kamala Harris headed to Philly Cuts, a barbershop in Philadelphia, to connect with Black men. The candid conversation covered a range of issues critical to Black men, from criminal justice reform to economic empowerment and health disparities. Harris addressed her background in criminal justice, emphasizing her early advocacy for reentry initiatives and a policy against jailing individuals for simple marijuana possession. “I was probably one of the first elected prosecutors in the country to say, we need to have reentry initiatives,” Harris said. She added, “Right now, I believe we need to just actually legalize the whole thing, and that’s part of my platform.” The Vice President also highlighted alarming statistics regarding Black male representation in public schools and discussed the importance of incentives for recruiting Black educators. “Only 1% of teachers in public schools are Black men,” Harris shared, speaking to Shakur, a local dean of students who attended the discussion. "If a Black child has a Black teacher by the end of third grade, they're like 13% more likely to go to college," Harris added, emphasizing the societal benefits of investing in Black teachers. Homeownership, a pressing concern for many Black families, was also discussed, with Harris addressing historic and ongoing discrimination. “Black families are 40% less likely to own their homes than others,” she stated, underscoring the impact of redlining and systemic racism. Harris mentioned her proposal of a $25,000 down payment assistance for first-time homebuyers as a step to rectify these inequalities. Touching on health, Harris and attendees acknowledged the importance of breaking the stigma around discussing healthcare in Black communities. “For brothers, we’ll come in the barbershop, we’ll talk about everything else. But we won’t talk about healthcare,” one participant pointed out. Harris, who has personal experience with the impact of colon cancer, shared, “I lost my mother to colon cancer,” highlighting the need for early screening and increased awareness. Throughout the conversation, Harris stressed the significance of voting, especially for Black men who may feel disillusioned by the political system. “When you don’t vote, those folks still get elected. You just don’t get to decide,” she reminded the audience. Harris expressed the need for Black men to have a say in the leaders shaping policies that impact their lives, urging them not to take themselves “out of the game.” Check out the full discussion.

  • 6 Habits of Healthy, Happy Men

I take care of my mind, body and soul. My experience with Army training and my own personal fitness journey, I have worked hard for the body I have. I was always active in my youth, from basketball to football, I kept busy with sports. The commitment to fitness I have is often seen through my Instagram feed of intense workouts. Not only has my military background allowed me to be physically fit and disciplined in my training, but it’s attributed to how I take care of my mind. I’ve spent time learning new things, surrounding myself with positive people, and continuously making an effort to spread positivity to others whenever I can. These sort of habits have allowed me to stay happy. Without a healthy mind, it can be hard to have a healthy body. Conversely, without a healthy body, it can be hard to have a happy mind. Having a balance between staying fit and being happy is only achieved through routine and being proactive. Right amount of sleep. Our bodies need to recharge. Getting a good night’s rest will greatly improve your mental health and your energy throughout the day. We produce our best work when we have the energy needed. Cool environments are best, and you can get a more restful sleep with Chilipad bed cooling systems . Train outside of the gym . While going to the gym can be important to ensuring physical fitness, it’s even more important to keep that same dedication up outside of the gym. As well, if you can’t head to a gym, exercising at home a couple of minutes every day will still give you a clearer mind and keep you in shape. Smiling is important. It is the easiest way to show kindness. It spreads happiness and is infectious. The more we smile, the more likely we are to be seen as more approachable and feel more confidence in ourselves. Meditate. It’s important that we take moments to readjust. Taking a moment for yourself to breathe, clear your mind, and focus on your energy. Our minds need time to relax. Seek first to understand, then to be understood. When we take the time to understand things we don’t understand, we become better thinkers and people for it. Taking the time to listen to others and learning enriches our minds. Try not to allow your emotions to overwhelm your intelligence. It is very easy to let our emotions get the best of us. During these times, it is critical that we always assess why we feel the way we do, and how we can move on from it. Our emotions should never drive us to be less thoughtful whether in regards to ourselves or those around us. • 9 Black Actors Whose Roots Are in Theater

With the ability to become an instant celebrity and viral fame, there's a common misconception that classical theater training has become obsolete. Critics often dismiss stage acting as a relic of the past, suggesting that the modern entertainment landscape demands a different skill set. However, theater remains the bedrock of exceptional screen performances, serving as an invaluable pipeline that continues to produce some of Hollywood's most compelling talents. Consider the trajectory of actors like Viola Davis and Chadwick Boseman, who cut their teeth on the stage before commanding the silver screen. Their theater backgrounds gave them an unshakeable foundation in character development, emotional authenticity and the stamina required for sustained performance. The stage, with its unforgiving nature and immediate audience feedback, creates actors who can deliver consistency and depth take after take. The misconception that theater training is outdated stems partly from our culture's fixation on overnight success stories. Yet, the reality presents a different narrative. Many of today's most celebrated actors credit their theatrical roots for their screen success. What sets theater-trained actors apart is their mastery of fundamental skills often overlooked in the rush to screen stardom. The ability to project presence without relying on camera angles, to maintain character integrity through lengthy performances, and to connect with an audience in real-time – these are invaluable tools that translate powerfully to any medium. The discipline required in theater, from voice projection to physical awareness, creates performers who can adapt to any role with authenticity and precision. Hollywood has numerous Black male actors who first honed their craft on the theater stage. Here's a look at some of the most prominent Black male actors who started their careers in theater. Denzel Washington Washington Before commanding the silver screen and becoming one of Hollywood's most formidable forces, Denzel Washington's artistic foundation was firmly rooted in theater. His journey began at Fordham University, where he discovered his passion for performing while appearing in Eugene O'Neill's The Emperor Jones and Shakespeare's Othello . The young actor's raw talent caught the attention of renowned theater director Robinson Stone , who became an early mentor. Washington flourished at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco, where he honed his craft in classical productions. Even after achieving Hollywood stardom, Washington has consistently returned to his theatrical roots, most notably in his Tony Award-winning performance as Troy Maxson in August Wilson's Fences on Broadway in 2010 – a role he would later immortalize on film. Chadwick Boseman Long before he became the Black Panther or embodied Jackie Robinson, Chadwick Boseman's artistic foundation was firmly rooted in the theater world. After studying directing at Howard University under the legendary Phylicia Rashad , Boseman immersed himself in New York's theater scene, where he not only performed but also demonstrated his versatility as a playwright. His play Deep Azure (2005), a hip-hop-infused drama that tackled police brutality, earned critical acclaim at Chicago's Congo Square Theatre Company. Jeffrey Wright Jeffrey Wright's journey to acting excellence was forged in the crucibles of New York theater. After graduating from Amherst College, Wright immersed himself in the theater scene of the late 1980s, honing his craft on stages across Manhattan. His breakthrough came with his portrayal of Belize in Tony Kushner 's groundbreaking play Angels in America: Perestroika , which earned him both a Tony and Drama Desk Award in 1994. The rigorous demands of live theater shaped Wright's approach to character work and laid the groundwork for his later success. Leslie Odom Jr. Leslie Odom Jr.'s ascent to stardom exemplifies theater's power to forge extraordinary talent. At just 17, he made his Broadway debut in Rent (1998), displaying a precocious gift for both acting and vocals that would later become his trademark. He continued to build his theatrical foundation through roles in productions like Leap of Faith and Venice , but it was his revolutionary portrayal of Aaron Burr in Lin-Manuel Miranda's Hamilton (2015) that catapulted him into theatrical legend. Sterling K. Brown Sterling K. Brown's commanding screen presence was methodically cultivated on the stages of New York theater. After earning his MFA from NYU's prestigious Tisch School of the Arts, Brown immersed himself in the rigorous world of regional and Off-Broadway theater throughout the early 2000s. He delivered a powerful performance in Suzan-Lori Parks' epic drama Father Comes Home from the Wars, Parts 1, 2 & 3 (2014) at The Public Theater, where he played the role of Hero, a slave grappling with questions of freedom and identity during the Civil War. Mahershala Ali After earning his bachelor's degree in mass communications at Saint Mary's College of California, where he discovered his passion for performance through poetry and dance, Mahershala Ali pursued his craft with laser focus at NYU's prestigious Tisch School of the Arts. During his time at NYU in the late 1990s, Ali immersed himself in classical theater training, mastering the fundamentals of movement, voice and character development that would later become his signature tools. David Alan Grier David Alan Grier 's storied career exemplifies the versatility that deep theatrical training provides. Armed with a Yale School of Drama MFA, Grier established himself as a formidable stage presence in the early 1980s, earning his first Tony nomination for his dynamic portrayal of Jackie Robinson in the musical The First (1981). His early stage work included Shakespeare in the Park productions and musicals. Andre Holland After graduating from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts and completing further studies at the Globe Theatre in London, Andre Holland immersed himself in classical theater. His acclaimed performance was in August Wilson's  Jitney  (2017) on Broadway, and his portrayal of Othello was at Shakespeare's Globe (2018). Billy Porter Billy Porter's journey in theater began in the 1990s. His early work included appearances in productions like Grease and The Wizard of Oz , where he honed his craft and showcased his vocal talents. However, it was his groundbreaking role in the 2013 musical Kinky Boots that catapulted him to stardom, earning him a Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical.

  • Black Men Discuss Economic Opportunity, Reproductive Rights At BET's 'Black Men's Summit'

Black men have become a key demographic in the 2024 election, with both parties increasingly focused on addressing the challenges faced by Black men and winning their votes. Black men have shown strong support for the Democratic Party in the past, but recent elections have revealed a growing interest among Black men in the Republican Party. With this shift, both parties are tailoring their messaging to appeal to the needs and aspirations of Black men. Now that politicians are recognizing the power of the Black man's vote, especially in swing states where margins are tight, it's important to make sure our community is informed. Last night, BET hosted its Black Men's Summit, inviting civil rights leaders, celebrities and activists to discuss crucial topics affecting Black men. Hosted by D.L. Hughley , the summit discussed issues like the economy, community safety and reproductive rights. The panelists included Michael Ealy, Jermaine Dupri, Atty. Ben Crump, Vic Mensa, Rep. Steven Horsford, Rep. Justin J. Pearson and more. Hughley opened by emphasizing how this election may be the “most consequential” for Black men, given the policies around Black economic prosperity, criminal justice reform, and reproductive rights. A major theme of the summit—and a key issue for many Black men—is economic opportunity, with participants discussing the disparities Black men face in the job market. Ryan Wilson , CEO of The Gathering Spot, discussed the need for equitable support for Black-owned businesses. "The fact that there is a plan on the table is something that we should be excited about," Wilson said, referring to Harris' proposal to provide 1 million fully forgivable loans of up to $20,000 to Black entrepreneurs and others who have historically faced barriers to starting or growing businesses. Civil rights attorney Crump spoke on Vice President Kamala Harris’ track record as a prosecutor and its impact on Black men. He noted her initiatives aimed at offering alternatives to incarceration, like her “Back on Track” program, which provides young offenders with educational opportunities instead of prison time. One piece of misinformation that circulated about Vice President Harris was that she locked up thousands of Black men on marijuana charges. After doing our research, we found that it isn't true. Gun violence emerged as a critical issue, with activist Greg Jackson sharing a moving account of his own experience as a survivor of gun violence. Jackson emphasized that underrepresented communities bear the brunt of ineffective policies, urging Black men to consider the impact of candidates' policies on gun control and policing. The summit also discussed reproductive rights, an issue often framed as a women’s issue but with significant implications for Black men. Many attendees, including Mensa, stressed the importance of bodily autonomy and the intersection of race and gender in reproductive health. “As Black men, our primary responsibility in this humanity is to protect Black women,” Mensa remarked, highlighting the need for solidarity in addressing reproductive rights. “Protecting Black women begins and ends with listening to them about what makes them feel safe, and they overwhelmingly support the right to choose what happens with their bodies,” Mensa added. BET’s Black Men’s Summit was a much-needed platform for real discourse with Black men about the issues most important to them this election season. Check out the full summit.

  • The True Cost of Diamond Engagement Rings: Exploring Prices, 3ct Diamonds and Custom Creations

Engagement rings have always been a symbol of love, but with modern couples looking for more unique and personalized ways to express their relationship, custom diamond engagement rings have become a popular demand. There are plenty of factors to consider when shopping for a ring and one of these is the price of the diamond, in particular a 3-carat diamond. We take a look at the price of diamond engagement rings, the appeal of a 3ct diamond engagement ring, and why customized diamond engagement rings have become a favorite among couples looking for something extra special. Understanding Diamond Engagement Ring Prices There are several factors that can affect the diamond engagement ring prices  and the most important factors are known as the 'Four Cs'. They are carat weight, color, clarity and cut. All of these characteristics contribute to determining the final price of a diamond, and combined together all define the diamond's quality. Carat Weight : This is the size and weight of the diamond. Larger diamonds are rarer and thus pricier. Color :  Color of diamonds is measured on a scale of D (colorless) to Z (noticeable color). Clarity : Imperfections, or inclusions, within a diamond, are measured by clarity. Cut : The cut of the diamond determines how well it reflects light, affecting its brilliance and sparkle. The Appeal of a 3ct Diamond Ring A diamond with 3 carats is thought to be luxury and elegant at its most. The average engagement ring will typically have a diamond of around 1 carat, so choosing a 3ct diamond ring is a statement. This choice, however, costs a bit more. The average price of a 3ct diamond ring  is around $30,000 to $120,000 with the quality of the Four Cs. Often, a carat weight alone will give some value but when added with color, clarity and cut, the price can rise quickly. A 3ct diamond of excellent color (D-F), flawless clarity, and superior cut will be more expensive than a 3ct diamond with visible inclusions and a lower color grade. The shape of the diamond (round, oval, or emerald, for example) also impacts the cost. Because of their popularity and the large amount of rough diamond material lost during the cutting, round diamonds are typically the most expensive. Why Choose Custom-Made Diamond Engagement Rings? While traditional, off-the-shelf rings provide a wide range of styles and options, many buyers are now more inclined to make something unique. And that's where custom-made engagement rings come into play. Personalization : Couples can custom make their ring with a ring tailor to suit every aspect of their design, such as the diamond’s size and shape, as well as color, clarity, and deciding the metal for the band (such as platinum, white gold or rose gold). In addition, custom rings can include intricate designs, as well as personal engravings or unique settings featuring other gemstones. Flexibility in Budget : Custom-made diamond engagement  rings sound costlier, but actually, they are way more flexible when it comes to budgeting. Couples can work with a jeweler and specify what's important in the design, like picking a higher quality diamond while choosing a simple band. Or they can elect for a more detailed look with a smaller, less expensive diamond. A Unique Heirloom : Sentimental value can also be added to custom-made rings since they can be designed with features that have special meaning to you. These rings have a deeper meaning than ready-made rings. Whether it’s a family heirloom diamond or a symbolic design, each ring has its significance. A diamond engagement ring is a big-ticket item and one that needs to be considered both emotionally and financially. Whether you’re after a classic diamond engagement ring, a 3ct diamond ring, or have an idea to make a custom design, you have to know the factors that will affect the price of a diamond engagement ring. Balancing your budget, personal style and the unique qualities that make your relationship special will help you find a ring that will symbolize it for years to come. Photo Credit: DepositPhotos.com

  • Marvel Drops Teaser Featuring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as 'Wonder Man'

We don't know what happened with Marvel Studies last night, but we love it. A trailer dropped teasing Marvel's full slate of content being released on Disney+ including, Eyes of Wakanda , Ironheart and Daredevil: Born Again. Among the titles released was Wonder Man , starring Emmy-winning actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. It seems Abdul-Mateen has switched sides, as he previously portrayed David Kane, the Black Manta, in DC's Aquaman . In Wonder Man , Abdul-Mateen plays Simon Williams, a Marvel Comics character who, in this adaptation, is portrayed as an actor auditioning to become Wonder Man, adding a satirical, behind-the-scenes look at fame and the entertainment industry. The teaser hints at comedic yet complex interactions between Simon and Trevor Slattery, the eccentric actor played by Ben Kingsley, who we last saw in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings . The 10-episode series also stars Demetrius Grosse as Simon’s brother, Eric Williams, known as the Grim Reaper in Marvel Comics, hinting that a family dynamic with its own complexities will play a part in the show’s plot. Wonder Man  is slated to premiere in December 2025 as part of Marvel’s Phase 6.

  • The Intersection of Technology and Fashion: A New Era of Innovation

The fusion of technology and fashion has transformed the way we perceive clothing and accessories. This relationship has evolved from simple fabrics and sewing techniques to an intricate blend of wearable technology, digital design and sustainable practices. As consumers increasingly seek personalized experiences, the fashion industry is leveraging technology to innovate and enhance the way we shop, create and wear clothing. Wearable Technology: The New Frontier Wearable technology is one of the most significant developments at the intersection of fashion and tech. Smartwatches, fitness trackers and even smart textiles are now commonplace, allowing consumers to monitor their health, stay connected and express their style simultaneously. Brands like Google have paved the way, but many fashion designers are now exploring this space, integrating technology into their creations. Designers like Ralph Lauren  have introduced smart shirts that can track heart rate and calories burned. Meanwhile, accessories like Google’s Nest Hub (2nd Gen) and the company’s Pixel Watch offer technology that monitors sleep quality and overall well-being. These innovations not only cater to a health-conscious consumer base but also add an element of functionality that traditional fashion lacks. The Role of 3D Printing 3D printing has revolutionized the way fashion items are designed and produced. This technology allows designers to create intricate patterns and unique pieces that were previously impossible or cost-prohibitive. With 3D printing, customization becomes feasible, enabling consumers to tailor garments to their exact specifications. Oscar-winning costume designer Ruth E. Carter  made history when she won the Academy Award for the 2019 blockbuster Black Panther . Most notably, Carter and her team used 3D-printed designs to enhance the look of Wakadians in the film. Fashion houses like Chanel and Adidas have embraced this technology, producing items that range from high-end couture to performance footwear. The ability to prototype rapidly also means designers can experiment with bold designs and materials, pushing the boundaries of what fashion can be. Sustainable Fashion: Technology's Green Revolution As environmental concerns mount, the fashion industry has faced increasing scrutiny for its impact on the planet. Technology is playing a crucial role in promoting sustainable practices. Innovations in fabric production, such as lab-grown materials and recycled textiles, are helping brands reduce their carbon footprints. Companies like Bolt Threads are developing bioengineered fabrics that mimic silk and leather without harming animals or the environment. Similarly, brands such as Brother Vellies focus on using sustainable materials and ethical production methods, often integrating technology into their supply chains for transparency. Designer Aurora James  aims to preserve traditional African design practices while promoting sustainability. The brand employs vegetable-tanned leather, recycled tires for soling, hand-carved woods, and floral-dyed feathers. Besides upholding the value of fair materials, labor, and fair practices, Brother Vellies allocates one percent of each purchase to a non-profit. Blockchain technology is also sustainably making waves by providing a transparent record of a product's journey. This allows consumers to verify the sustainability and ethical sourcing of their clothing, fostering trust and accountability in an industry often criticized for its opacity. Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality Virtual and augmented reality (VR and AR) are reshaping the shopping experience. These technologies allow consumers to virtually try on clothes from the comfort of their homes, reducing the need for physical fittings and minimizing return rates. Brands like Zara and ASOS have begun implementing AR features in their apps, enabling users to see how clothing looks on them without stepping into a fitting room. Moreover, virtual fashion shows, once limited to select audiences, have become more accessible thanks to live-streaming technology. This shift allows brands to reach a broader audience, democratizing fashion shows and giving rise to digital fashion weeks that are inclusive and engaging. The Future of Fashion and Technology As technology continues to evolve, the fashion industry must adapt to new trends and consumer demands. Artificial intelligence (AI) is expected to play a pivotal role in design, forecasting trends, and personalizing shopping experiences. AI algorithms can analyze consumer data to predict what styles and colors will be popular, enabling brands to create collections that resonate with their target audience. The future also points toward a more collaborative approach between technologists and designers. As the boundaries between tech and fashion blur, interdisciplinary teams are likely to emerge, fostering innovation that challenges traditional notions of both industries. When asked about the future of fashion and technology, Google’s Senior Director of Global Consumer Marketing & Commerce, Stephanie Horton,  "Technology is making shopping personalized and more seamless than ever before. From shopping for apparel to experimenting with hair colors, and finding inspiration online - it's clear that people are embracing tech to curate their personal style. Tools like virtual try-on, which uses generative AI to show you what a piece of apparel looks like on a model who resonates with you, put fitting rooms at your fingertips. And features like Google Lens or Circle to Search let you instantly shop what you see - whether you’re watching TV, scrolling your phone or going about your day. With the help of AI, shopping is more convenient than ever before." Google has continued to be at the forefront of embracing how technology shapes consumers of fashion. With products such as the new Google Pixel 9 Fold, fashion-forward users have new ways to shop and generate ideas for their daily looks in their hands. By using the company's AI-powered "virtual try-on" feature within Google Shopping, consumers are allowed to see how clothes would look on a variety of real models with different body types, giving you a better idea of how an item would fit and drape on you before purchasing it; The feature also utilizes your search history and location data to suggest clothing options relevant to the weather and current trends in your area.  The convergence of technology and fashion is creating an exciting landscape filled with possibilities. From wearable tech that enhances daily life to sustainable practices that address environmental concerns, the future of fashion is undeniably intertwined with technological advancement. As we continue to explore this intersection, one thing is clear: the fashion industry is not just about aesthetics anymore; it's about creating a more innovative, sustainable, and personalized experience for consumers. In this dynamic world, the only constant is change, and both technology and fashion are poised to lead the charge.

Looks like we're getting more from the Wayans brothers ! The Scary Movie  franchise is back and the Wayans brothers are reuniting to breathe new life into the series they created over two decades ago. Announced at CinemaCon, Keenen Ivory Wayans , who directed the first two films, will join forces with his brothers Marlon and Shawn , who previously starred in and co-wrote the original entries, for a reboot. The trio alongside longtime collaborator Rick Alvarez will write and produce an original screenplay that will satirize today’s horror scene in classic  Scary Movie  style. Jonathan Glickman, head of Miramax, expressed his excitement: "We are thrilled to reunite Scary Movie  with the Wayans brothers, the brilliant creators behind the beloved franchise. The timing is perfect to bring back the series to the big screen, and we’re lucky to have Keenen, Marlon, and Shawn’s unique comedic vision bringing it to audiences around the world.” As Scary Movie  gears up for its return, here are five interesting facts about the franchise: Scary Movie Was Shawn Wayans’ Brainchild Shawn Wayans initially came up with the idea for Scary Movie , and he collaborated with his brothers to develop the script that would transform horror comedy. The Working Title Was a Mouthful Originally, Scary Movie  was titled Last Summer I Screamed Because Friday the 13th Fell on Halloween . The Wayans went with Scary Movie  as a nod to Scream —a fitting reference, as the franchise frequently parodied the iconic horror. Keenan Ivory Wayans Wanted the Actors to Improv Director Keenen Ivory Wayans gave the actors freedom to improvise, often choosing the funniest takes for the final cut. Shannen Elizabeth recalled to Entertainment Weekly, "Keenen said, 'I want to shoot what's on the page, and then I'm going to let you guys do anything you want. Regina Hall ultimately took the part and became one of the franchise’s standout stars. "They wanted me to play Brandy, and kind of do a parody of her," the late singer explained in an MTV2 interview. "I actually liked the script, I thought it was really funny, but I didn't want anybody to take it like I was disrespecting her in anyway. So, I actually didn't do it and it turned out to be a really funny movie." Scary Movie Gossed Almost $300M At The box office Despite mixed critical reviews, Scary Movie  was a box office phenomenon, earning nearly $300 million worldwide on a $20 million budget, making it one of the highest-grossing films in the horror-comedy genre.

  • Inside The Barbershop: Black Men Discuss Voting And The Difference Between Presidential Candidates

The Harris campaign hosted a candid roundtable discussion at Faheem's Hands of Precision barbershop in Philadelphia to discuss politics, progress and the power of the Black vote in America. The barbershop, long considered the Black man's sanctuary for unfiltered dialogue, lived up to its reputation as participants shared their thoughts on the upcoming presidential election and the issues affecting their community. Among them was a professional boxer who hadn't cast a ballot in 12 years, wrestling with disillusionment and the weight of civic responsibility. "I'm trying to figure out if I actually want to be a part of it as far as voting because I feel like it's a bunch of things a lot of people didn't do," Stanley shared. His hesitation and sentiment have been echoed by many in the Black community. But as the conversation continued, personal stories began to reshape perspectives. Anton, a ward leader, spoke about his 56-year-old mother who "walks with a limp," bringing up the political debate about retirement age into focus. "My mom can't work another 20 years," he stated, sharing that he is removing himself out of the equation and focusing on the needs of the people closest to him. Anton also shared a story about his grandmother's smile when she received affordable prescription drugs. "I may not ever have that moment again," he reflected, "But seeing that and hearing that from your grandmother, I said, I know who I'm voting for. My grandma never steered me wrong in my life." The discussion turned to healthcare, a critical issue for many in the room. The group discussed the Affordable Care Act's impact on their community, with Quentin Fulks, Principal Deputy Campaign Manager for Harris For President, noting that during the previous administration, "200,000 African-Americans lost health insurance." The gentlemen continued their conversation and discussed everything from entitlement programs that "helped us out" to the importance of protecting progress already made. Check out the full clip.

  • 'Luke Cage' Actor Mike Colter and Wife Create Hair Care Line for Mixed-Race Kids

Actor Mike Colter, who portrayed Luke Cage—the first Black American superhero to lead his own comic book series—won over audiences with his powerful, gritty take on Marvel's bulletproof hero, quickly becoming a fan favorite. Luke Cage  ran for just two seasons, yet it captivated audiences, and fans are still hoping to see him return to the MCU. Colter said fans need to ask Feige if the Luke Cage character will be returning to the MCU. "If I had a dollar for every time," Colter said in our interview. While Colter is known for playing one of the few Black superheroes, he also took on the role of a villain in Girls Trip —or as he likes to say, he was "misunderstood and double-crossed." While he continues to come across our screens in series like Evil and films like Plane, Colter’s focus is shifting to something personal and impactful. Alongside his wife, Iva Colter , the actor recently launched a new hair care line, inspired by their daughters Niles and Chaz, and designed specifically for mixed-race children. Niles & Chaz , named after his daughters, was born from a familiar parental challenge – finding the right hair care products for children with diverse hair textures. "It was born out of a need, a necessity, to find products that were specifically for children with the multicultural, multi-ethnic, biracial texture of hair that isn't just one thing," Colter shared. The journey began when his daughter made a simple suggestion during a moment of frustration: "Why don't we just make our own?" That childhood wisdom, combined with his wife's research prowess (she holds a doctorate in comparative literature), set the wheels in motion for what would become a new hair care collection in the market. The line includes an innovative haircare collection consisting of four hero products: Tangles Shmangles, a detangler and curl enhancer; Curl Raiser, a revival spray; What The Frizz!, a styling gel cream; and Scalp Enchanter, a pre-shampoo scalp treatment. When trying to identify what type of products they wanted to create, Colter said, "We wanted something that was clean for kids. The world is changing now so we got to find things that are sustainable, that are good for children to put on their skin and hair, smell good. Also fun because it's a kid's brand." Each product was developed with sustainability in mind, featuring aluminum packaging and plant-based ingredients. The brand's colorful, eye-catching packaging was a collaborative process that included input from Colter's artistic daughters, who are in art class and love to draw and paint. Despite being bald himself, Colter is passionate about this hair care venture. "I'm fascinated with hair; I live vicariously through other people and their hair," he admits with a laugh. But past the humor, he is seriously committed to filling a gap in the market. "Kids of their demographic are often overlooked," he shares, referring to the growing multiethnic population that often struggles to find suitable hair care products. As a "girl dad," Colter sees the brand as more than just a business venture – it's an extension of the father-daughter relationship and a platform for building confidence in young people. "Hair is confidence," he reflects. "People overlook how much more confidence people have when they have their hair in the right place. It's like when a guy goes to get a haircut. You walk out of the barbershop a different dude." The brand's approach is deliberately measured and community-focused. Instead of rushing to mass market, Colter and his team are focused on building a grassroots following through direct-to-consumer sales and Amazon. Their vision includes creating a user-generated content platform where children can celebrate their curls and unique identities. For Colter, this venture represents a natural evolution in his career, even if it might seem unexpected for an actor known for his action-packed roles. "It's a children's brand that is predicated on the father-daughter relationship and children's identity and confidence," he explains. In an industry dominated by major corporations, Niles & Chaz offers something different: a personal touch from a father who understands the importance of helping children embrace their natural beauty. The brand aims to expand to retail shelves within the next year, but for now, Colter is focused on organic growth and building genuine connections with their customer base. Through Niles & Chaz, he's not just selling hair care products – he's creating a platform for celebrating diversity and empowering the next generation to embrace their unique identities, one curl at a time.
